Sentien employs the one-step IMR technology that allows printing and shaping at the same time. Wear-resisting UV paint is applied on foils, on which the color and design for the shell is later printed. While the product is being formed, the automatic positioning system transfers the design onto the product surface.

This technology that integrates printing and formation comes with many advantages. Firstly, it saves time. Secondly, it can deal with designs expressed with various materials, including electroplating and metal, elevating the quality and appearance of products such as laptops, cellphones, and iPads. Lastly, the production process is compliant to environmental regulations.

The IMR foil is mainly implemented on the cover and shell of notebook computers and mobile phones. In 2008, about 70% of Eee PC which was the hit product of Asus had their top cover printed with the IMR technology. It has also been applied on other products of popular notebook brands, such as MSI U100, Acer Aspire One, and Toshiba M800 and M300. Leading shell manufacturers such as Hon Hai/ Foxconn, Darfon, Juteng, and CastleNet are also customers of Sentien. Sentien plans to duplicate this advanced technology to other fields of industry in the near future and expand the application of IMR foil.
